INNOVATIONS AND COLLABORATIONS WITH BUSINESS

Conceiving, inventing and running trials for new materials and working methods for etching, collagraphy, screenprinting and light-sensitive printmaking processes. Collaborating with Lascaux Colours & Restauro, Zurich, Switzerland from 1998 to develop, manufacture and market a complete range of modern water-based printmaking materials. This research project has resulted in 18 products which have now been launched and are available worldwide. In brief the products include:

Lascaux Acrylic Resists

A set of six innovative acid-resistant materials and two coloured coatings. These materials have been designed to provide all the marks associated with traditional materials as well as relating closely to classical working methods. The water-soluble resists are easily applied with artist's brushes and tools and can be cleaned with soapy water. They are compatible with each other and with dry film photoresists.

Lascaux Lift Solution

A versatile fast drying replacement for sugar lift which can be used in conjunction with aquatint spray resist for etching or with spray tusche for making positives.

Lascaux Screen Filler and Screen Painting Fluid

These water-soluble materials are used for painting on the mesh to create or alter stencils. They have excellent handling qualities and are suitable for professional or access-level use. Lascaux Remover A solution for removing dried resists, filler and tusches.Lascaux

Tusches

An innovative and unique set of six water-soluble painting materials specially designed for creating or altering positives for light-sensitive printmaking processes (e.g. photo-etching, screenprinting, photocollagraphy). The tusches offer a wide variety of mark-making possibilities, including delicate drawings, painted marks, lithographic-type washes, sugar-lift effects, soft-ground effects, airbrushed marks, and application by roller.
