Victoria Crowe OBE DHC FRSE MA(RCA) RSA RSW
Working at Graal with Robert and Carol, Victoria has used intaglio, collagraphy, relief and screenprinting and combinations of these media. Victoria's interest in unusual papers, parchments and pressed flowers and collage methods has been explored through screenprinting elements freely and in different combinations and on a range of substrates to create editions and unique pieces. Kremer pigments, Lascaux paints and painting media were used to screenprint with. Victoria was creating in the screenprinting studio and all of the screenprints were hand printed. This way of working to create Victoria Crowe's book 'Inflorescence' can be seen in this video.
The marks were then transferred to screens and screenprinted onto the same archival paper which Willie chose to paint on. The artists paints which Willie painted her paintings with were used to screenprint with as well as screenprinting mixtures made using Kremer pigments. Printmaking enabled Willie to get the deep rich fields of colour and softer complex grounds, the precise placement of marks along with the exact colours, translucencies and the range of surface qualities (chalky, shiny, dense, mat, satin) that she had been seeking. Do contact us if you are interested in more information or wish to purchase these original screenprints. The entire body of work we made and more information about Willie can be found The Barns-Graham Trust website
