GRAAL PRESS

In 1998 I and Robert Adam established Graal Press as a conceptual platform for focused research and exemplary creative work relating to the field of printmaking. My aim was to create a modern, flexible and sustainable approach to professional and academic printmaking practice. This ambitious project has involved, for example, envisaging future developments in the disciplines; researching; creating change; collaborating with a range of specialists worldwide; creating new materials and working methods; communicating complex concepts as clearly as possible; printmaking; teaching and exhibiting nationally and internationally; building networks; and writing and illustrating books for publication. The outcome of this project has been.•  Our work has gained an international reputation for quality, research, and innovation.

•  The modern theories and systems which were developed are explained and illustrated in two pedagogic textbooks (co-authored with Adam) which are published by Thames & Hudson in London and New York. •  The eighteen products for printmaking which I invented in collaboration with Lascaux Paints & Restauro, Switzerland are available worldwide.

•  My own work and co-published works created using the new materials and systems have been  exhibited internationally, and purchased for important collections; and the works are documented in books, journals, artist’s catalogues and online.

•  National and international workshops, trainings, consultancies (including team building and staff development projects) and lectures have disseminated information about the new approach.
